Free Pineapple. (Poison Level Yet to be Determined.)

Walking down the tourist-packed Front Street of Lahaina, Maui last night, a random local guy approached us and offered us a pineapple.

“It’s totally good and everything,” he told our bewildered faces, “I just have more than I can eat growing in my yard, and I don’t want it to rot.”

Being used to receiving a relatively neutral, if not negative, attitude from locals, we walked away, pineapple in hand, with a new perspective on people wearing no shoes, boardshorts, and sunglasses.  At night.
